Wasting away again in Twitterville: Marketers' millions a little suspect

So I get on this Twitter thing. And frankly I'm not exactly a Twitter-type person. But I get on it anyway.

Now, I'm normally pretty cynical about everything, which probably isn't a good thing in itself. But luckily I'm bi-polar so the other half of the time, I love everything.

One thing I've notice during my brief venture in Twitterville is that there is a lot of marketers. And according to them, they each made about 10 million dollars or so last year. And according to socialnetworking-weblog, there were roughly 4.3 million Twitter members last December (before Oprah made it famous).

According to my calculations, of those 4.3 million Twitter members, about 4.2 million of them about are e-marketers, which makes the market for e-marketing at roughly 42,000,000,000,000 dollars (4.2 million marketers x 10 million dollars).

Pretty amazing.

So I figured, hey, that's a lot of money. Why can't I have some of that?

So I followed one of the Twitter e-marketer's link to money and happiness - Affiliatize. And lo and behold, I see that this guy made $2M in 2007, as shown by the picture above. Guess he's not as good as the $10M marketers, but good enough for me.

Being cynical, I figured I better check this out a little bit. So I googled "cyberspace to paradise inc" and these are the top hits:

ripoffreport:

"Net Detective - Jean Harris - Harris Digital Publishing - Cyberspace To Paradise Inc - ripoff business from hell consumer fraud dirty SOB's evil dirt bags screwed others too the business that doesn't give a dam victimized many consumers Deland Florida"

Guess this one guy wasn't too thrilled with Cyberspace.

Findownerssearch:

Brands Owned [by Cyberspace to Paradise, Inc.]:
CYBER INVESTIGATOR
GENEALOGY DETECTIVE
INTERNET DETECTIVE
NET DETECTIVE
NET DETECTIVE 2000
ONLINE INVESTIGATOR

I wonder if I can hire Cyberspace to Paradise to investigate Cyberspace to Paradise for me.

Ecnext:

Primary SIC: Electronic Computers, Primary NAICS: Electronic Computer Manufacturing
Description: Manufacturing: Electronic Computers

So they manufacture computers as well. Talented bunch of folks.

Cortera:

CYBERSPACE TO PARADISE INC is in the Business Services, N.E.C. industry in DELAND, FL. This company currently has approximately 50 to 100 employees and annual sales of $10,000,000 to $24,999,999.

I thought they were just one guy making $2,000,000 a year.

I didn't bother looking at the remaining google results. The internet, you gotta love it, at least half of the time for a guy like me.

I like the listing in Cortera. The contact person is listed as Scott Adams. I thought he drew Dilbert....
