The American Indian Center at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill recently hosted a celebration of native foods which featured our Tanka products. Attendees sampled other native treats including pumpkin, wild rice, succotash, quinoa, corn and dried berries. They also learned about American Indian contributions to our day-to-day lives such as sustainable agriculture, world cuisine and medicine.

Other activities included a demonstration using a large mortar to pound dried corn kernels which was used to make grits and corn meal. The Today Show even came out to the Native Foods Celebration to interview Joe Liles who has been a supporter of, and heavily involved with, native communities. Thanks to Randi Byrd at the American Indian Center at UNC-Chapel Hill for the great photos and information!
