A training took place at Oglala Lakota College in the Pejuta Haka College Center in Kyle, SD, this week. Pine Ridge Chamber of Commerce President Kymberly Tilsen-Brave Heart conducted the training. Ms. Tilsen-Brave Heart gave us tips and advice on proper ways of conducting yourself in the workplace.

From the Tanka Bar marketing and sales team, Eugene, Rachel and I attended the training. Other participants were employees from Thunder Valley Community Development Corp., Cassandra, Lynellle and Besse from the Pejuta Haka College Center, and Liz from Lakota Leather. Jesse, from the Pine Ridge Chamber of Commerce, was there to help with the customer service training.

It was a fun training. It involved working with Play Doh (an exercise to keep your hands moving while listening), a group discussion and learning in a relaxed environment. Ms. Tilsen-Brave Heart covered a lot of important issues of good customer service and proper work etiquette. She finished her training with an inspiring DVD, Appreciative Inquiry, a tale of looking at life through more than one type of perspective.
